THE WINE'S STORY

Domaine Grivot is based in Vosne Romanee, in the Cote du Nuits of the northern part of Burgundy, and is home to many of the great domaines in Burgundy. Currently it is owned by the fifth generation of the Grivot family, Etienne took over over from his father Jean in 1987. Domaine Grivot was founded in the 1930’s and was one of the first domaines in Burgundy to bottle and sell the wines themselves.

Across this 15 hectare domaine, the vine age is on average between 45-to 50-years old and covers 22 appellations (18 red) with holdings in three Grand crus: Clos de Vougeot, Echezeaux and Richebourg. In addition to the Grand cru vineyards, Domaine Grivot holds eight Premier cru vineyards including the highly regarded Les Beau Monts and Suchots vineyards.

Etienne’s approach to the vineyard is one of farming with minimal impact to the environment and prevents the use of any chemicals in the vineyard, organic farming known as ‘Sans certification’.

SOMMELIER NOTES

Fine boned, silky Pinot yet relatively complex for a Bourgogne Rouge. Layers of ripe red fruits, damson plums, minerals and earth, with some spice notes. Absolutely ready to drink now and will also improve even further.
