Quealy Amphora Friulano 2016 - Mornington Peninsula, Victoria

The Story

The Turbul project began in 2012 as a collaboration with Tom McCarthy Quealy winemaker and Nikolas Juretic a young winemaker from Collio, Friuli.  The name Turbul means cloudy in local Fruilian dialect, a reference to Turbul’s cloudy disposition as an unfiltered, natural wine.

M+Q Notes

A modern natural wine celebrating extended maceration on skins before oxidative ageing in barrel and amphora. Engaging aromas of blossom, honey, lemon rind with a peppery spice on the nose. On the palate, the textural thrill of Turbul becomes apparent. Sleek, creamy, and beautifully poised, the richness from extended skin contact balanced with Friulano’s fine acidity, achieved by strict crop levels to assure acid rich grapes with thick burnished skins.

Food Suggestion

Squid ink pasta with crab and chilli
