The Story

Port Phillip is a beautifully designed estate in the Red Hill region of the Mornington Peninsula overlooking the coast. The estate has a restaurant, cellar door and an exceptional winery. They made wine using several grape varieties but focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir that thrive in the maritime climate of this region. The owners Giorgio and Dianne Gjergj also own Kooyong Wines that operates on the same property as Port Phillip.

M+Q Notes

Chardonnay sourced from the estate’s Red Hill vineyard with vines ranging from 5-27 years old. Whole bunch grapes were pressed to French oak barriques before natural fermentation started. Citrus and stone fruits are prominent on the nose with a bit of sweet spice and touch of smoke on the palate. Chalky minerality and fresh textural round out the zippy acidity on the finish.
