The Story

Monmousseau has been around since 1886 when it was founded by Alcide Monmousseau as a fine wine merchant house located in Montrichard. Alcide’s nephew Justin-Marcel Monmousseau took over in the early 1990s after realising the potential of the terroir and grapes of Touraine. He started by making sparkling wine in the same method of the wines of Champagne and went on to also produce still wines. Over 100 years later the House of Monmousseau is still creating exceptional sparkling and still wines of the Loire Valley.

M+Q Notes

100% Sauvignon Blanc from Touraine in the central Loire around Cheverny. From fruit still grown on richer soils that are still on a limestone base giving the wines good freshness, body and minerality. Shows bright clear Sauvignon character without any grassy herbaceous notes. Fine and pure fruit couple with richness from lees aging and lifted floral aromatics. A terrific wine for the price.
