Luke Lambert 'Crudo' Chardonnay 2016 - Yarra Valley, Victoria

The Story

Luke is one of our most exciting home grown talents, he makes beautifully aromatic wines from the Yarra Valley. He likes to source vineyards in poor, rocky and elevated sites that he then manages to bring out their unique geographic signature. Luke purchases grapes from quality conscious growers in the Yarra Valley and Heathcote. Luke grew up in Brisbane and fell in love with wine mainly due to his parent’s love of it. He has spent considerable time working in Italy in both Piedmont and Tuscany. The name crudo means raw in Italian.

M+Q Notes

Luke describes his wines as ‘wildly perfumed with moderate alcohol, fresh acidity, powdery tannins and limited oak influence’. Very impressive entry-level Chardonnay that is very Chablis-like expressing savouriness before fruit, with a chalky, salty mineral character, lemon pith, herbal notes and some real depth on the finish.
