Koerner Pigato Vermentino 2018 - Clare Valley, South Australia

Koerner Pigato Vermentino 2018 - Clare Valley, South Australia

The Story

Jonathan and Damon Koerner have grown up around vines their whole lives. Their parents, Christine and Anthony, have owned and managed a South Australian vineyard in Gullyview for over 40 years. They traveled around Australia and the world learning about winemaking and then started their own winery based out of their hometown of Clare Valley. Most of their wine is made with grapes from their family vineyard as well as other places around Watervale. It is important to the brothers for their wine to be a product of the vineyard and therefore they do not add anything in the winery except tiny amounts of sulphur. The like to use Italian grape varieties and their wines are very expressive of the Clare Valley.

M+Q Notes

Named Pigato after the local name for Vermentino in Liguria, Italy where the grape is common. The wine spends three weeks on its skins creating texture, body and tannins.  Flavours of blood orange, peach tea and lemon curd. Savoury spice and vibrant acidity finishing with grippy tannins.
