Keller Riesling Trocken 2017 - Rheinhessen, Germany

Keller Riesling Trocken 2017 - Rheinhessen, Germany

The Story

For over 200 years, the Keller family has been making stellar wines in the Rheinhessen. In 2001, Klaus-Peter Keller with his wife Julia took over the estate and has increased the quality and reputation of the winery on an international scale. They make a range of Rieslings from bone dry to sticky sweet. They also produce excellent Spätburgunders (German Pinot Noir). They have several vineyards that are demarcated Grosses Gewächs, or Great Growth, which signifies the top vineyards of Germany. Those wines are extremely rare and are made in their sweetest styles.

M+Q Notes

The Keller Family wrote an extensive 2017 Vintage Report and remarked that: "The fascinating 2017 vintage is also one of a kind. The smallest volume here in our winery since the excellent 1971." Their Trocken (German for dry) Riesling has piercing but balanced acidity with lemon-lime citrus flavours and aromas. Plenty of minerality and texture combine to create a complex and mouth-watering Riesling.
