Hughes & Hughes Sauvignon Blanc 2017 - Flowerpot, Tas

Hughes & Hughes Sauvignon Blanc 2017 - Flowerpot, Tas

The Story

In the small town of Flowerpot in southern Tasmania, Mewstone Wines was created by brothers Mathew and Jonathan Hughes. After several vintages in various places around the world, Jonny returned to his hometown and began making minimal intervention single site wines from their family vineyards. The brothers also have another project, Hughes & Hughes, where the grapes are sourced from other vineyards in the area with a focus on creative winemaking. After taking home the "Best New Act" at the 2018 Young Gun of Wine awards, and being named James Halliday's Best New Winery for 2019, this brotherly duo is one to watch.

M+Q Notes

A juicy fruit-forward Sauvignon Blanc fermented in 90% stainless steel and 10% French barriques from a combination of East Coast, Coal River Valley and D’Entrecasteaux grapes. Aromas of tropical fruits and lemongrass initially jump out of the glass with green apple and gooseberry to follow. There is a zesty acidity and flavours of passion fruit on the textured palate. The perfect summertime wine.
