The Story

Over 200 years ago the Dönnhoff family arrived in the Name region of Germany and established a small farm. They later grew the business to include a winery and the family has been making wine since 1971. Helmut Dönnhoff was the family member who started making wine and today his son Cornelius works with him as well. Their vineyards include not only the best in the region but some of the best in the entire country. They do not irrigate any of their vineyards which promotes vines with deep roots. All wines are hand-picked and undergo natural fermentations in either traditional German barrels or stainless steel. This estate is one of the finest in all of Germany.

M+Q Notes

This Riesling was picked from the families Leistenberg vineyard which is on steep terraced slopes with clay and slate soils. The wine is dry with a generous amount of acidity and minerality. Aromas of white flowers, crushed rock and white peach. Flavours of lemon-lime, yellow pear and crisp green apples. Vibrant acidity and a long, lingering finish.
