Cullen Kevin John Chardonnay 2016 - Margaret River, WA

The Story

Diane and Kevin Cullen started converting their dairy farm to a vineyard in 1966 after an expert suggestion from Dr. John Gladstones, a local wine grape researcher and lecturer at the University of Western Australia. They planted a vineyard on their Wilyabrup property in 1971 and later planted another vineyard nearby. They were committed to biodynamic farming from the beginning and continue to this day. The couple had six children who jointly own the winery with the youngest daughter, Vanya Cullen, as Chief Winemaker and Managing Director. Vanya has helped grow the winery to become one of Margaret River’s and Australia’s iconic boutique wineries.

M+Q Notes

This Chardonnay was re-named after winemaker Vanya Cullen’s father, Kevin John, starting in the 2005 vintage. It’s a rich, elegant and stunning Chardonnay with a complexity of flavours and aromas. Ripe peach, sweet spice, lime zest and nuttiness. A fresh baked bread quality that has a plush texture and soft fruit flavours interwoven.
