Bodegas Eidosela Charquino Albariño 2016 - Rías Baixas, Spain

The Story

Bodegas Eidosela is a co-operative located in Rías Baixas in north east Spain on the border of Portugal. The name ‘Eidosela’ was born from the union of ‘Eidos’ and ‘Sela’ which roughly translates to ‘roads to sela’ (sela meaning the place, ‘here’), and is meant to indicate the paths which unite the little patches here and there which collectively are Eidosela. It was founded in 2003 and by a small group of producers who collectively own 45 hectares of vines. They grow Albariño, Treixadura and Loureiro, which are typical grapes of this region.

M+Q Notes

This 100% Albariño was fermented in stainless steel with 50% of the wine sitting on it’s lees for 4 months. It is zesty and complex with a mix of tart fruits and savoury notes. Green apple, lemongrass and white pepper jump out on the nose while whit peach, dried herbs and a touch of nuttiness linger on the palate. It has a generous amount of acidity with a medium body and a silky mouthfeel.
