The Story

The Yarra Valley is one of Australia’s most recognised and accomplished Chardonnay cool climate wine growing regions. So it has been fitting that Shaun Crinion has set up his immaculate Dappled wine production there in 2009. The Dappled label has made bold progress in a short period of time with rave reviews every vintage and a recent Young Gun of Wine Finalist plus awarded James Halliday’s Best New Winery of 2018. After heading to a surfing trip in California in 1999, Shaun Crinion started doing some winery work for an uncle on the central coast of California, where his work experience there became a driving passion. His goal was to make ‘high quality, unadulterated wines from special patches of dirt at realistic prices’. These are all hand-crafted, minimal intervention wines and are terrific!

M+Q Notes

A hallmark feature of Yarra Valley Chardonnay’s are their savoury mineral notes, they are also consistently fresh and flinty. The resurgence in the Valley is to produce wines that are lighter in weight, oak and alcohol. The Dappled Chardonnay is a mid weight wine with a perfect combination of citrus and stone fruits, chalk notes, almond meal and a whiff of struck match.
