Schwartz Wine Co Chenin Blanc 2018 - Barossa Valley, SA

The Story

Jason Schwarz grew up surrounded by vineyards but decided wine marketing was the path for him. This all changed after he finished his degree at the University of Adelaide and travelled and worked at wineries in Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhône Valley, Stellenbosch and Napa. He returned to Barossa and switched his career to winemaking training with local legends instead of going back to school. In 2001 his father helped purchased a small amount of fruit and Jason made his first Shiraz. The next vintage he expanded to Grenache and continued to make Shiraz and Grenache every year to this day. He works with some of the best vignerons in Barossa which enables him to have a light touch in the winery.

M+ Q Notes

Gentle, crisp and refreshing, it leads with pear, honeysuckle, paw paw and hay.  In the mouth it has crunch, with mineral salt and lees character reminiscent of aged cheddar.  Pear remains the dominant fruit character through the pulpy finish.
