Meet the artisan taking a radical 'grapes-roots' approach to viticulture, crafting unpretentious wines with evident passion.
Patrick Sullivan grew up in the countryside of Victoria in Australia. When he was 19 years old he went to London to explore the world and ended up with a job working in wine. It was here that he discovered the wonder of wines made from organically and biodynamically made grapes. He then returned home to Australia, determined to discover what made these wines taste so different. He worked for various projects in the Yarra Valley, including most importantly, Bill Downie, with whom he learned the real value of serious, hardworking viticulture. When a property nearby in Gippsland became available, he pounced on the opportunity and in 2016 he and his wife Megan planted their first vines. Patrick makes wine with very careful viticulture and minimal intervention in the cellar.
Patrick will be showing his new release chardonnays and some Jumping’ Juice favourites - true expressions of how exciting and interesting Pat’s wines are!
Xavier Goodridge is an incredible, influential figure in the Victorian wine scene. He cut his winemaking teeth at Harcourt’s Bress Estate and is now one of the leading producers in the minimal intervention scene in Australia.
Xavier Goodridgeis a young winemaker shaping raw but refined minimal intervention wines from sites in Victoria. He spent several years studying viticulture and vinification and working at various wineries abroad and local ones like Bress Winery and with Patrick Sullivan in Gippsland before starting his own project a couple years ago. Xavier produces wines that are simple and authentic while expressing both the site they grew on as well as the varietal characteristics of the grapes.
Xavier will be showcasing his 2018 Half way to Heaven Chardonnay, 2019 Pa Pa Pinot Noir and 2018 Shirley Rose - yummy stuff!
