The Story

Rob Burnley is originally from New Zealand where he started his Viticulture and Winemaking studies in which he finished in Australia. Following finishing up his studies he gained experience by doing vintages in France, America and NZ. Rob then took up working alongside the talented Bill Downie and Patrick Sullivan in Victoria, during this time the concept for Unkel was born. Rob is presently working with organic growers throughout Victoria, but primarily in Heathcote, where he is sourcing the Sangiovese and Vermentino.

The fruit was destemmed then left for five days on its skins in stainless steel, before being pressed back into stainless steel then matured in ceramic egg before bottling. Pure, layered, bright and brilliant sour cherry-rapsberry spectrum red fruit.
