Stift Goettweig Gruner Veltliner Messwein 2015 - Kremstal, Austria
THE WINE'S STORY
The Austrian wine growing region of Kremstal is along side the Wachau, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is home to 1,400 hectares of vineyards, many of them on steep terraces growing Gruner Veltliner and Riesling. There are two different mesoclimates at work here. Summers are dry and winters are very cold and they are moderated by the Danube river. Cold down the slope winds originate and case big swings between day and night time temperatures, especially in the months prior to harvest. This interaction of weather helps build complex aromas in the grapes.
M+Q NOTES
Messwein is the lightest wine in this producers range, it is subtle and light with classic Veltliner spice, red apple, citrus and rosewood, very multi-layered and expressive.

Dagger Pinot Grigio 2016 - King Valley, Victoria
THIS WINE'S STORY
Originating form Italy's northeast,Pinot Grigio is an Italian staple. Like a dagger, this Pinot Grigio from the King and Alpine Valleys is sharp, fine and tight."The wine label Cloak and Dagger evolved during the 2016 vintage when two unexpected parcels of wine popped intriguingly out from amongst the chaos, to reveal 2 interesting and delicious expressions of Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio. We stumbled and fell even deeper in love with the delicate and bewitching aromatics of cool climate Pinot Grigio. We have created this blend focusing on highlighting the alpine herbal elements of this variety balanced by the freshness of Nashi pears and the steely acidity synonymous with Pinot Grigio. Cloak and Dagger is an expression that conjures up mystery and intrigue, we hope these wines stimulate your curiosity and enchant you in much the same way!" Nina and Callie (winemakers)
M+Q NOTES
Nashi pears, stone fruit and lemon verbena with a tight acidic backbone and beautiful length.

Medhurst Estate Vineyard Rosé 2017 - Yarra Valley, VIC
THE WINE'S STORY
Medhurst Wines is the realisation of the long held and shared vision of Ross and Robyn Wilson to own a property in the Yarra Valley and produce high quality wines. Ross was CEO of Southcorp and drove the company’s acquisition of Penfolds, Lindemans and Wynns in 1990. He has remained passionate about wine ever since.
Ross and Robyn Wilson spent years looking for the perfect site and for many reasons they jointly decided on the Yarra Valley. Robyn Wilson spent her childhood here, and the Australian and international status of this excellent cool climate wine region and its incredible beauty, helped make their decision.
The Medhurst Vineyard was also particularly chosen for its favourable microclimate, north facing slopes, good drainage and magnificent aspect. It was planted in 2000 with chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz.
M+Q NOTES
The 2017 growing season was cool and mild, producing wines with wonderful acidity, flavours and fine boned slinky tannins. Very pale copper with bright salmon hue. Deliciously elusive fresh fruits including strawberry and raspberry are supported by hints of fennel and white blossom of jasmine. The palate is savoury and refined with a supple creamy texture. This really is an exceptional rosé that ticks all the boxes for us: perfect warm weather drop the hard part will be stopping at a few glasses
