The Story

Françoise and Gérard Potel landed in Burgundy in the 1960s and began making traditional top quality wines from their vineyards in Volnay, Pommard and Santenay. The anicent name for the famous Burgundy city of Beaune is ‘Bellene’ which is where the Maison gets its name. Nicolas Potel, the son of Françoise and Gérard, traveled and worked at vineyards in Western Australia and California gaining experience while learning from winemaking legends. He returned to France and made his first wine trading house in 1997 upon the death of his father. The winery uses modern equipment and follows the biodynamic calendar during winemaking practises. The Bellenos collection pays tribute to the ancient Celtic god of sun and are wonderful examples of entry-level Burgundy wines.
