Brash Higgins ‘Nymph’ 2017 - McLaren Vale, South Australia

The Story

This is what all the modern McLaren Vale wine is all about - Brash Higgins is the label of winemaker Brad Hickey. With a background as one of America’s top sommeliers, Hickey came to Australia and fell in love with McLaren Vale and local vigneron Nicole Thorpe, with whom he now produces highly characterful, minimalist wines from their much-loved Omensetter vineyard. The painting on the 2017 Nymph label is “Subluminescence” by Sydney based artist Martine Emdur. M+Q Notes

The second vintage of NYMPH is a cool, coppery blend of Cinsault and Carignanfrom young vines on the neighbouring Lennon Vineyard. 'Touch misty, opalescent salmon in appearance. The wine is dry yet exudes nectarine, hybrid-tea rose, cinnamon apple, and watermelon rind aromatics. Fresh notes of cut ginger, nectarine skin and watermelon flow onto the palate with texture; a savoury, snappy sweet/sour peach finish pulls the wine together on the close; long finish follows.' – Brad Hickey, Vinitor,
