Turning Heads Pinot Noir by Alex Head - Adelaide Hills, South Australia

THE WINE'S STORY

HEAD Wines was started in 2006 by Alex Head. It focuses on single site Rhone varietals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys in South Australia.
Each HEAD Wine shows a distinctive house style of powerful fruit weight, elegance, freshness, finesse and balance which starts by farming vineyards sustainably and in some cases using organics and biodynamics. Yields are low/controlled, grapes are hand-picked, ferments use indigenous yeasts with some retention of stems and maturation in larger format barrels. Minimal sulphur is used during the whole wine-making process and bottling is without fining or filtration. Each Head Wine not only represents Alex Head's strong views on what makes balanced, drinkable wines for the table, but a guarantee of absolute quality, value and consistency.

SOMMELIER NOTES

A project wine made by Alex, in the cool climate of the Piccadilly Valley of the Adelaide Hills. The Piccadilly valley sits underneath Mount Lofty which is the highest point of the ranges and sits at 727 meters.

Massolino Dolcetto d’Alba 2016 - Piedmont, Italy

THIS WINE’S STORY

One of the stand out producers of Piedmont who brilliantly combines the old and new worlds of wine. Massolino wines are the result of a privileged relationship with the vineyard, interpreting all its peculiarities and nuances. A relationship built up day by day, personally supervising every moment in the production chain in all twenty three hectares of the estate. From the vineyard to the cellar, from the vine to the bottle.

M+Q Notes

Often referred to, as fruit with guts the 16 Dolcetto is subtle with cherry, blue plum and anise. Medium bodied with complex hints of earth and minerals.

Fetherstone Pinot Noir 2016 - Yarra Valley, Victoria

THE WINE'S STORY

Fetherston Vintners is the collaborative project of Chris Lawrence and Camille Koll.  They have both spent significant time in hospitality and the wine industry, and their deep love of food and wine, especially in the company of friends while indulging in these hedonistic pleasures, has developed a deep desire to create beautiful wines to share with those they love – an unstoppable force that simply had to happen.

SOMMELIER NOTES

Ruby red in colour, aromas of earthy, dusty forest floor, leading to red cherry, raspberry, star anise and clove.  The palate is bright and vibrant with the juicy, sweet red fruits balanced by ultra-silky tannins and lively, crunchy acidity.
