The Story

On the border of the Loire Valley and Auvergne in Central France, La Ficelle is located in a region called Saint-Pourçain. It’s part of a co-op that has over 600 hectares of vineyards with the average vine age at 30 years old. Since the late 1980s, La Ficelle has been producing wine that is both meant to be expressive of the terroir of the region while having ultimate drinkability. Each vintage they have a different cartoonist design their label and the wine is released on the first Saturday in December.

M+Q Notes

A fun and juicy wine that’s a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay. Intense aromas of cherry, raspberry and white pepper and flavours of fleshy strawberry and cranberry continuing on the palate. The acidity is refreshing and moorish and gives the light bodied wine a zippy mouthfeel.
