Jane Eyre Pinot Noir 2017 - Mornington Peninsula, Victoria

The Story

Jane Eyre was a hairdresser in Melbourne for 10 years before she decided to pursue a wine career after working vintage in Burgundy. She continued to learn more about wine through her experiences working at a Melbourne wine shop and various Australian and European wineries. In 2004 she made the move to Burgundy where she is currently living and working as a winemaker in Beaune. As well as making wine in Burgundy, she also visits Victoria each year during vintage to produce Pinot Noir from Mornington Peninsula and her hometown of Gippsland. She sources grapes from quality growers and teams up with natural winemaker William Downie who helps finish up the winemaking process after Jane returns to Burgundy.

M+Q Notes

This cool climate Pinot Noir was created in a delicate, restrained style. Jane makes her Pinots to be approachable when young with a focus on aromatics. The wine ages for 10 months in old French barrels which allows the wine to avoid excessive oak flavours. Ripe cherry, cranberry and savoury spice dominate the palate with silky tannins that give this wine structure and balance.
