The Story

Domaine de Bellene was created in 2005, following the proposal by a number of winegrowers who wanted to have some of their vines exploited in the form of rental. Thus, this new vineyard was conceived with a desire to control the entire production process, from the vineyard to the marketing of the wines. The estate is set in very old, historical buildings bought in 2006 at Rue du Faubourg Saint Nicolas in Beaune. The original 13.85 ha plots of land extended from Santenay to the Côtes de Nuits Villages with three major appellations Saint-Romain, Beaune and Savigny-Les-Beaune. The craft in their wines is in organic farming and they have always sought to work the vines in the respect of the soil so that the grapes are very healthy and of very high quality. This explains why the wines are of an exceptional quality.

M+Q Notes

The generosity of the 2016 vintage has given the wine an extra degree of ripe supple fruit to what is always a cut above its contemporaries in that department. A mix of cherry and red fruits, mild spice fill the front and middle part of the palate before the persistent and ripe structure ensures the wine holds a little more seriousness than most at this station.
