Curly Flat Pinot Noir 2016 - Macedon Ranges, Victoria

Curly Flat Pinot Noir 2016 - Macedon Ranges, Victoria

The Story

Phillip Moraghan was traveling around France and Switzerland when he fell in love with Pinot Noir. This led him on an 18 month search of the perfect site in Victoria to make his own wines. What he found was a 33 acre volcanic soil vineyard in the Lancefield region of the Macedon Ranges. After Phillip purchased the site he partnered with Jeni Kolkka and built Curly Flat from the ground up. Jeni ran the business with Phillip concentrating on the vineyard and wine style. Jeni took over ownership in 2017 and is currently running it with winemaker Matt Harrop. They produce Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a small amount of Pinot Gris focusing on single vineyard wines.

M+Q Notes

Matured in French oak barrels with 20 months on lees. Deep, concentrated flavours of cassis, plum and black cherry. Baking spices mingle with the dark fruits on the palate with additional flavours of tobacco leaf and cedar. Fine grained tannins and a balanced structure. Ability to age gracefully for several years.
