The Story

Alex Bryne grew up around Ballarat and experienced wine making life as a teenager helping his family friends at the Taltarni winery. He moved to winery work at Dominique Portet in the Yarra Valley in 2002, before completing vintages in the Northern Rhone Valley of France, Margaret River and Argentina. His time in Burgundy in 2008, cemented his love of cool climate viticulture. He returned to Australia to take up an assistant winemaker role at Lethbridge Estate near Geelong. Current day Alex makes his very own impressive cool climate wines from vineyards at both Ballarat and Sunbury, this is high quality, small volume Australian winemaking, with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir the varieties that he excels with.

M+Q Notes

Fruit was hand picked from Myola vineyard. The fruit had a cold soak for a week and then the natural yeast took over with a small parcel of whole bunch inclusion. Maturation in 20% new French oak the rest in one to four year old French oak. Bright nose of savoury, earthy elements and lifted cherry notes leads to a palate made firm by ripe tannins and driving acidity.
