Parri Toscana Vermentino IGT 2016 - Tuscany, Italy

The wines bottled under Parri, Fratelli D’Anna and Via Rotella, typifies the main white grape of Tuscany and of the region of Tuscany. These are wines made and then finished off to exact specifications for these producers.

M+Q NOTES

Tuscany as a region is large and diverse, layers of lifted fruits and all underpin by good acidity. The Parri is  fragrant, perfumed, layers of lifted fruits and all underpinned by good acidity: everything a Vermentino should be!

FOOD SUGGESTION

Arancini

Le Moire Annibale 2014 - Calabria, Italy

THE WINE'S STORY

Le Moire Vineyards are located approximately 400m above sea level on terraces that slope gently down to the river Savuto, in Calabria southern Italy.

The vineyards are surrounded by forests that help protect the vineyards from the winds that whip through valley, and help keep the local ecosystem in check. Blessed by geography, the health of the vines is paramount. The prevailing exposure to the evening sun from the South-West slows the maturity and ripening of the grapes and mitigates the harshness typical of southern wines.

M+Q NOTES

A blend of the indigineous red grape Magliocco and Sangiovese this wine is spicy with red fruits, sour cherries and licorice. Earthy and elegantly rounded palate with good acid and elegant and refreshing finish.  A new M+Q favourite!

FOOD SUGGESTION

Charred corn, chipotle mayo, lime, queso anejo

Goodman Nikkal Pinot Noir 2016 - Yarra Valley, Victoria

THE WINE'S STORY

Wine maker Kate Goodman’s wine career also began in McLaren Vale. After deciding that a career in Biomedical Science didn’t offer enough of the creativity she craved, Goodman returned to her wine making interests working in South Australia and the Clare Valley before spending seven years at Seppelts winery in the Grampians, Victoria. In 2000 she took a job as chief wine maker at Punt Road Wines in the Yarra Valley. She spent fourteen years in the position before starting her own label, Goodman Wines and is producing outstanding wines of exceptional quality.

M+Q NOTES

The Pinot Noir is a blend of two vineyards, one in the Christmas Hills is a cooler site and one in the heart of the Yarra Valley at Coldstream. Fragrant aromas of lifted cherry spice, anise with savoury, earthy undertones. Subtle and savoury with a mid weight palate; think earth, cedar and dark cherries with a bright finish and velvety tannins. Perfect with food or on it's own.

Gestalt ‘The Fugue’ Savignin White Blend 2016  - Adelaide Hills, SA

THE WINE'S STORY

The Gestalt label began in 2012 from a single wine made from a stunning Grenache vineyard in Williamstown, South Australia. They are now based in the Adelaide Hills, and the label has grown organically each year as they continue to search for similar quality vines from the Hills, Barossa Valley, and Clare regions.

They hold a simple winemaking philosophy, and it is based on how to most lightly handle premium fruit to realise the greatest balance and complexity in the finished drink. All grapes are hand-harvested from carefully selected, small-scale vineyards using organic practices to maintain healthy vines and soils.

M+Q NOTES

This is an aromatic white wine blend of three varieties from the Adelaide Hills: Savagnin, Gewürztraminer and Petit Manseng. The Savagnin and Gewürztraminer contribute fresh flavours of passionfruit, pomegranate, and stonefruit as well as a green apple crunch. The savoury, slinky characters from barrel-fermented Petit Manseng provide a subtle, almost neutral element.

FOOD SUGGESTION

Ortiz anchovies, lemon, crostini
