Adelina ‘Eternal Return’ Dolcetto 2017 - Adelaide Hills, South Australia

The Adelina winery is a small vineyard in the Spring Farm sub-region of the Clare Valley. The site is maintained using biodynamic principles. The Adelina wines are made exclusively from the estate vineyards. They are owned and run by Jennie Gardner and Colin McBryde, both with extensive wine-science backgrounds. Their precision and commitment is evident in the consistently high quality wines they produce. If three really is a crowd, then Adelina's Eternal Return label must be an exception to the rule. Joining the existing Nebbiolo and Arneis, this inaugural Dolcetto rounds out an Italian inspired triumvirate under this terrific young label. Drawn from the Ceravolo Vineyard, at Ashton in the Piccadilly Valley, Col McBryde has gone to one of the highest and coolest parts of the Adelaide Hills, similar to Piedmont in Italy where the grape originates from. Planted in 2007, the site sits on sandy loam with schist above sandstone.

Dolcetto is a prime red grape originating from Piedmont in Italy’s North East. It is referred to as the ‘cheeky little one’ for its fresh, easy drinking style. This is the first vintage of Dolcetto from Adelina and it is a great interpretation of the Italian varietal. Crunchy red berry fruit, with botanical scents and wispy fine slightly dry tannins, make this super thirst-quenching, moorish red.
