Avani Amirit Chardonnay - Mornington Peninsula, Victoria

Avani Amirit Chardonnay - Mornington Peninsula, Victoria

The Story

Avani is a Mornington Peninsula winery that was established by Shashi and Devendra Singh who after running restaurants for several years, decided to venture into wine. They purchased an existing vineyard in 1998 and converted it to organic viticulture by 2005 and currently practise biodynamics in the vineyards as well. Their vineyard is planted entirely to Syrah but they also produce white wines with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from neighbouring vineyards. Minimal intervention is the focus in the winery with wild yeast fermentation, no filtering, fining or pumping.

M+Q Notes

This Chardonnay has plenty of body, texture and personality. Aromas of creamy vanilla and lemon curd are coupled with salted caramel flavours and a zesty acidity. Nuttiness is prominent on the palate that’s reminiscent of hazelnuts and pecans. The complex flavours have a warming feel and a richness that lingers long after the finish.

Food Suggestion

Confit duck leg and radicchio salad
