Head The Blonde Shiraz 2017 - Barossa Valley, South Australia

The Story

Head Wines was started in 2006 by Alex Head. It focuses on single site Rhone varietals from the Barossa and Eden Valleys in South Australia. Each Head Wine shows a distinctive house style of powerful fruit weight, elegance, freshness, finesse and balance which starts by farming vineyards sustainably and in some cases using organics and biodynamics. Yields are low/controlled, grapes are hand-picked, ferments use indigenous yeasts with some retention of stems and maturation in larger format barrels. Minimal sulphur is used during the whole wine-making process and bottling is without fining or filtration. Not only do the wines represent Alex Head's strong views on what makes balanced, drinkable wines for the table, but a guarantee of absolute quality, value and consistency.

M+Q Notes

An elegant take on a classic Barossa Valley Shiraz. Beautifully perfumed on the nose with blue fruits and a bit of earthiness. Rich flavours of dark plum, blackberry and dark chocolate. A balanced medium bodied weight with velvety tannins and a long finish.
