G.D. Vajra Langhe Rosso 2016 - Piedmont, Italy

The Story

G.D. Vajra is located in the Barolo region of Piedmont and was founded in the 1970s by Aldo Varja. He became fascinated with vines after spending a summer on his grandparent’s farm in Barolo when he was 15 years old and the dream grew from there. He named his winery after his father, Giuseppe Domenico Vajra. The winery is now led by Aldo’s children who continue with the families old-style winemaking traditions integrated with modern techniques like temperature controlled fermentation.

M+Q Notes

A blend of mostly Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto, with smaller quantities of Freisa, Albarossa and Pinot Noir. Juicy and lively with fresh red berries, rose and a hint of earth on the nose. It is delicate yet complex with soft tannins and flavours of black pepper and wild strawberry.
