The Story

Diane and Kevin Cullen started converting their dairy farm to a vineyard in 1966 after an expert suggestion from Dr. John Gladstones, a local wine grape researcher and lecturer at the University of Western Australia. They planted a vineyard on their Wilyabrup property in 1971 and later planted another vineyard nearby. They were committed to biodynamic farming from the beginning and continue to this day. The couple had six children who jointly own the winery with the youngest daughter, Vanya Cullen, as Chief Winemaker and Managing Director. Vanya has helped grow the winery to become one of Margaret River’s and Australia’s iconic boutique wineries.

M+Q Notes

A Red Moon occurred during a lunar eclipse when the grapes were harvested which is where the wine get its name. It’s blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Merlot from the Cullen’s Mangan Vineyard. Medium bodied with flavours of red cherry, cranberry, dried flowers, fresh thyme and earth. Vibrant acidity and silky tannins.
