Ciello Rosso Nero d’Avola 2017 - Sicily, Italy

The Story

Ciello’s  100 hectares of vineyards in the  Alcamo  hills in southern Sicily were converted to organic farming after the Vasco family took over control a decade ago. They are one of a few but growing organic and low intervention producers of the region. Native Sicilian grapes like Cararatto and Nero d’Avola are championed and created in a way to showcase the unique characteristics of these grapes.

M+Q Notes

Nero d’Avola is found all over Sicily and is a classic grape of the region. The colour is deep ruby with aromas of black cherry, savoury spices and dried herbs. On the palate there’s dark berries, plum, tobacco, grippy but not overpowering tannins and medium body.
