Bondar Violet Hour Shiraz 2017 - McLaren Vale, South Australia

Bondar Violet Hour Shiraz 2017 - McLaren Vale, South Australia

The Story

Selina Kelly and Andre Bondar started Bondar after purchasing the historic Rayner Vineyard in McLaren Vale. Before starting their winery, Andre spent several years traveling around working at wineries including Nepenthe in the Adelaide Hills and Domaine Allain Graillot in the Northern Rhone of France. Selina has a background in marketing and law but has shared her husband’s vision of working in the wine industry. They started off with a couple tonnes of Shiraz in 2012 and only a few years later they received the prestigious award of James Halliday’s Best New Winery in the 2017 Australian Wine Companion.

M+Q Notes

Produced from 65 year old Shiraz vines in their Rayner Vineyard. The juice spends extra time on skins during fermentation which creates depth of flavour and silky texture. The plush fruit flavours are a mix of dark plum, black cherry, blackberry and combine beautifully with the savoury spices and dried herb notes. Medium bodied with generous and balanced acidity.
