Big Easy Radio Sangiovese Montepulciano 2016 - McLaren Vale, SA

The Story

Justin Lane enjoyed a stint at the uber creative wineries Alfa Box and Dice and Redheads wineries in McLaren Vale. He has now moved to his own project winemaking and called it Big Easy Radio.  Justin works with a range of different vineyards in McLaren Vale and seems most at home working with alternative varieties. His focus is on blends, usually two varieties in each wine, and from time to time a single-varietal release but he prefers the unconventional and a chance to create unique wine. Justin describes his wines as ‘Proudly walking down the beach without any pants on’! Crazy packaging in sherry like bottles but with serious and well-crafted wines inside, these are minimal intervention, very generous and very vibrant.

M+Q Notes

Montepulciano and the Sangiovese. two grape varieties that tango beautifully together. Montepulciano for its red dark fruits, spice and Sangiovese for its fleshy, plummy fruit. Packed with red and dark fruits, fruit-pure yet savoury hints of spice, amaro herbs, dark chocolate and a cascade of lovely chalky tannin.
