Adelina Field Blend 2017 - Clare Valley, South Australia

Adelina Field Blend 2017 - Clare Valley, South Australia

The Story

The Adelina winery is a small vineyard in the Spring Farm sub-region of the Clare Valley. The site is maintained using biodynamic principles. The Adelina wines are made exclusively from the estate vineyards. They are owned and run by Jennie Gardner and Colin McBryde, both with extensive wine-science backgrounds. Their precision and commitment is evident in the consistently high quality wines they produce. The heart of the business is a couple of small blocks of old, organically farmed Grenache and Shiraz vines that are next to the Wendouree vineyard, which is Clare Valley’s most highly regarded vineyard.

M+Q Notes

In true field blend style the grapes (Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Ugni Blanc, Roussanne and Carignan) are harvested as one, destemmed, lightly crushed and co-fermented for 11 days. The wine was then pressed off into neutral French oak for nine months before bottling. This wine is juicy and fresh and packed with red fruits. In the background are the characteristic gamie notes of Mataro.
